Kin-Ball is played with a ball of 1.22 m in diameter, and that weighs 1 kg. It is the only organized cooperative sport in the world, that is played with three teams of four players on a surface measuring 20 m per 20 m. The objective of the game is to catch and control the ball before it touches the ground. Points are given when a team commits a fault such as dropping the ball.
When one of the three teams is in possession of the ball, the others attack by calling out one of the two other teams by saying “OMNIKIN®” and the colour of the team and then throw the ball inside of the court’s surface. All team members must be in contact with the ball when the ball is hit.
Once the hit is made, the designated team must catch the ball before it touches the ground. Players can catch the ball with any part of their body. If a team is not able to catch the ball before it touches the ground, a point will be given to the two other teams and the team that dropped the ball will restart the game at the offensive. If the team succeeds in catching and controlling the ball, no points will be given and the team will then have 10 seconds to throw the ball back to another team.
