Season 2016/17
FOOTBALL: ICC Masters' Cup Football Competition, 2016/17
Inter-College Council (ICC) held its first Masters' Cup 5-a-side Football Competition, with the qualifying stages on 18th and 22nd February, 2017, and the finals on 6th March, 2017, at UM’s Mini Artificial Turf.
MCMC ‘Canaries’ were one of nine teams from across the different Colleges that was up for the challenge.
The team was spearheaded and well-captained by Bruce Sio (Sophomore) who led the Canaries in the qualifiers, with one loss to SPC, and a deserved victory over newcomers MLC/CLKC.
The Canaries reached the semi-finals and faced a strong SPC side. Associate Master College Master, Dr. Manuel Noronha was at the field to support the team, and after a hard-fought battle, neither team could break the deadlock.
The Canaries hit the woodwork on two attempts, and goal-keeper Leon Lei could not stop the decisive penalty, eventually bowing out to 0-3 defeat.
